I hadn't notice this until this morning though I'm sure it has been happening in the past. I started up my computer and started my typical apps (outlook, excel, calendar) and AutoCAD2022. I experienced some extra lag on startup so I've opened my task manager. I have not yet opened any specific files in CAD but I can actively multiple listed processes of AutoCAD component in my task manager. They close each other and reopen frequently. As many as 12 instances of it at a time, each grabbing anywhere from 3.2 MB to 35MB of memory. I realized that this is only occurring as I have a file search going on in the background. Is this something Windows/AutoCAD does to identify file types or preview images? I don't view any files with previews when browsing so it would seem to be an issue caused by explorer's search. Considering the amount of memory it is grabbing, this could be a significant issue for some users.

AutoCAD is using less resources that Google Chrome, and your anti-Malware software to name a few: is there a reason your find AutoCAD's usage suddenly upsetting? Most of us find closing Google Chrome speeds up so many things on a stock PC.

HTH

What you see is very common to all of us end users, no ill effects to anyone unless they are on shaky hardware: what is the sudden interest in it all today (since my using the word "upset" seems to have upset you, which was not my intent)?

What users at your end are having issues? And what sort of issues?

I'm sorry if I am asking a question you are not equip to answer. I am curious about the memory usage of that particular task. I have already made the assumption that it is likely window's search that requests the component to run so that it can create a preview image of what is in the .dwg. Considering user settings that don't even use a preview image it seems like a wasted use of memory and processing. Again, for some users who may not have even have mid-level machines this may become an issue depending on their system setup and required tasks. The potential for issue is much like using a white board with dry erase and only paper towels. If you keep redrawing something then cleaning it with a paper towel and nothing else, then extra lines and such tend to appear after many uses. The solution being using a cleaning solvent(restarting the computer).

Avoid starting /leaving open Google Chrome as part of your "...started my typical apps ..." and with your IT folks guidance ensure you have no server access issues or slowdowns and logins requirements first thing in the AM, then ensure your anti-malware is not needlessly scanning apps/their components that you have total confidence in (AutoCAD, OfficeApps etc.).

*Looks out the windows* "Why is the sky light blue?"

"The ocean is darker blue. Why are you suddenly asking about the sky. Is there a problem you have with the sky?"

"But why is it blue? I want to know the reason."

"No one else is bothered by the reason. The sky isn't bothering you. Everything else seems to be working fine.

You know what. If you close your window you won't even see the sky. Additionally, you can close the door too so that you can't see sky anywhere."

This is how our conversation seems to be going...

Dean can be a little blunt at times, but he means well.

Hard to tell what you're asking given the single screen shot. If you're asking what the individual entries under the AutoCAD application are, they're typically Chromium executables that are used to spin off various processes into their own threads. Help content and licensing are typical examples of this - running them in separate threads (multi-threading) allows better performance of both the main program and the secondary process. They're harmless, with the possible exception of minor problems with a few previous releases; they would spin off too many and consume too much memory (well beyond the pittance they normally do). That's been solved with various hotfixes and service packs.
