How can I update Text in AutoCAD from an Excel file?

I have a drawing file with room numbers saved as lines of text. The room numbers are incorrect and need to be updated. Is there any way to export the lines of text to an excel file, make the changes in excel and then import them back into the drawing for an automatic update?

This works for me when I use a block with attributes as a room tag, but I can't seem to get data to import back into the drawing with lines of text.

Welcome to the AutoCAD Community Forum.

Here are some useful links from Autodesk Support:

1. Use the Insert menu or right click to choose Insert ->Field.

2. Select “AF Excel Cell” in the left panel of the Field dialog.

3. Open an Excel file and select the cell you want to import.

4. Click “Get Active Cell” to get the active cell address.

5. If you want to use the relative path, please choose “Relative Path”.

6. Click OK to insert a field.

Thank you. None of the "AF" options show in my Field menu. How can I get that option?
