Can you import a georeferenced image without insertionpoint?

I am new to autocad and is coming from GIS software.

In GIS you can just import a georeferenced image without the need od specifying an insertion point. What I have understood, is that when you do it in autocad you need to specify an insertion point for the image to get in the right place?

Is there a way just to import it so it will come at those coordinates without needing any known coordinate? Be cause now I need to create a coordinate over the image in GIS and then insert the image in autocad to this coordinate, which can cause more difference in x and y when you are choosing from a not so highest image( aming for the spot where you picked out the cooridnate).

You can use an APP >>see link<< , AutoCAD Mapwspace Command, or Civil 3D.

Video: Connect to Data

Type MAPWPACE at the command line and turn On.
Select Data > Connect to Data
Add Raster Image or Surface Connection >> Select Source File >> Add to Map

With either Civil3d or Map 3D, the MAPIInsert command will place a georeferenced image. In vanilla Acad, it's tricker, and there are no built in tools to make it happen.

When you install the GeoRefImg freeware app, and enable the AGRI reactor, you can use the standard IMAGEATTACH command that will use the image's World file to place, scale and rotate the image automatically.
