4K Curved Monitor Recommendations

I am remodeling my office and wish to simplify things by moving to a single, wide screen-curved monitor. I was thinking 4k would be a good idea as well. After reading a lot of opinions online, I am more confused now than I was when I started. (FYI - I have a Samsung 34" 4K at home that I have tried a bit with AutoCAD and after 30 minutes or so really liked it. )

My question really boils down to how to convert my current work setup to something curved. I use a couple of 28" flat 2k monitors as I am often using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Excel etc. at the same time. I need both monitors as working on a half screen with 2 applications will give me what I need. I am also tired of turning my head to look at one or the other and feel like a large curved screen would help reduce the neck strain. Unfortunately, what I think I am seeing is that a lot of the wider curved screens (40-48") look like they just do not have the resolution needed. I guess I am just curious as to what kind of setups people might have that are working for them with the wide monitors. I suppose I could go with a couple of curved 28"-34" screens, but think I have have gone down the rabbit hole here and would appreciate any thoughts or advise.

Thank you in advance.

34" 4K you consider what, just 3440x1440? If yes, that's just 1.3x wide of 27". IMHO it's not enough for 2 CAD apps side by side.

I would consider 38" 3840x1600, which has the same point size but a bit of extra space in both directions...

43" could be 3840x2160, which is a real 4K but that would be too tall.

49" is 5120x1440 which is joined 2x 27". Probably too wide.

All noted above have the same point size (as 27" 2560x1440).

I currently have 2x 32" 2560x1440 flat, one in front, second on the left side. I like bigger points. It's probably too wide but... I don't mind. When working with C3D, I'll join another monitor 20" 1200x1600 (vertical) to the right, just to be able to stretch the C3D - the main workspace is still in front... but the app window is stretched to right 20" (with section view there)

My ideal monitor would be 48" 4260x1440 curved (1.6x 32"). Unfortunately, not yet in production.

Why one single monitor? it is still one single monitor, it's just bigger but still limited to one screen. You will hate it with daily use within the month: AutoCAD will still be scrunched and you will catch yourself maximizing it then wondering where to put all the floaties you like to also have open.

IMHO stick with dual curved monitors in the 27"-32"-whatever range, that's way more practical for us CAD users who multi-task other apps or like AutoCAD full screen and all the other floaties on the other monitor.

Have fun with the remodel.

People have their own tastes and one person's personal preferences don't apply to everyone as this poster seems to think.

I've used single monitors, large and small, and don't think it's limiting at all. Workflow and ability/willingness to learn and adapt could be determining factors.

The single-monitor setup works great on a large monitor, but a window management program is key to making it as useful as your multi-monitor setup. I use MaxTo, but there are plenty of others out there, including some by graphics card companies.

It's not curved, but this is what I use at home and as my primary monitor at the office:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-ultrasharp-43-4k-usb-c-monitor-u4320q/apd/210-avke/monitors-monitor-accessories
When I first got it I worried about being able to see the edges well, but after a few hours of using it I adapted to it.

If you have the room for it, this curved one looks pretty cool (although the height resolution isn't tall enough for me):
https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-ultrasharp-49-curved-monitor-u4919dw/apd/210-arnw/monitors-monitor-accessories

I own a Samsung 49" LC49RG90SSUXEN 5120x1440 Curved Monitor. It's incredible, works fantasticly with autocad and vehicle tracking. It is like having 3 large monitors. Once I got it, I wish I had made the change to curved sooner. I kept reading everywhere that curved was detrimental to straight lines. It just isn’t the case.

Obviously if one uses the whole screen as one drawing you will notice a curve, but if you have 3 drawings open it is very satisfying on the eyes. You are ultimately in the centre of the circle. I was very wary to purchase a curved monitor, after 25 years in the CAD industry.

@Anonymous You must have meant to respond to someone else, twice, our office standardized on curved monitors years ago now, we opted for dual (some folks triple) 27" or 32" 4k displays on mounts that leave the desktop clear and center of monitors at eye-level to reduce ergonomics issues.

We'd never go back to flat screens (or single screens no matter how wide) ever again 😉
