Layout TOOLS Tab missing

I downloaded AutoCad 2020 yesterday for a University project. I need to add a north arrow and scale to my design. From my research this is achieved through a tab called "layout tools" under the Ribbon-contextual tab states-layout tools in acad.cuix. However this is not an option when I look for it. I have checked the other forums and this seems to be a very common problem.

Hi,

Honestly I didn't hit your point .. BUT as much as I understand your issue .. Layout tab didn't appear up there in ribbon till you switch from Model layout to layouts space .

LAYOUT tab in the RIBBON only appears when you are in a Layout, not modelpace.

And there are no LAYOUT TOOLS with north arrows in them.
Did you download the correct software in the first place?

There are sample North arrows and scales if you have AutoCAD Map 3D - see attached files.

Hi guys, thanks for the help. I think I was a bit confused and I have just decided to make my own scale blocks and noth arrow blocks and insert them into my layout that way.

I had the exact same issue. You just have to install AutoCAD Map 3D from your Autodesk Desktop App, restart Autocad and it should be there!

Hi Marc

I am sorry but the "Layout Tools" tab is not available in standard AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT.

To access those features you will need to use AutoCAD Map 3D or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Hi Autodesk,

If I may express my suggestion to modify your layout tab that can change or to have a color tab like an Excel sheet layout.

I believe a lot of Autocad users would love this.
