I've managed to create a barstool in Autocad 2021. Now I want to print the single parts of it but I only get the full design on paper. For example, the stool exist of 4 legs, a seat and 8 horizontal parts which connect to all 4 legs.

I want to print from each part a detailed overview. Any idea how to do this?

I've attached the dwg file

Place parts on different layers, then freeze the layers you do not want to show. Just freeze and thaw layers as required.

Hope that helps....

LC

Every part is on a separate layer. My teacher told me so.

I've made a total overview first and added some dimensions to then.

But when I then freeze a layer, the association to the dimension is lost. Autocad shows a yellow exclamation mark

There are no dimensions in the file you posted. If you are going to change your drawing while seeking help here then you will need to constantly post updated DWG files.

Go back to your teacher for more detailed guidance: the file you posted allows for layers to freeze (and use isolateobjects command) with no issues and answers your original request for help.

To make my issue clear, hereby 3 screenshots.

Step 1: All layers are active and measurements are placed

Step 2: I freezed layers as advised

Step 3: The result in the already measured layout.

Hopefully I made myself clear and thanks for your positive help

@tdieltjes You have 6 apples in a holder designed for 6 apples.
You eat one or more apples.
The older now has empty spots where those apples where removed and eaten, if that apple holder was in a computer, there would be exclamation marks where the missing apples used to be.

But you still want apples to be in those holes after they are gone? That is what you are asking.

Your image(s) is what you see when you dimension across many objects, then remove some of the objects but leave the dimensions in place: why not just freezes the dimension layers too since they are no longer relevant or needed for your original quest to print isolated objects?

Or did you change your need all of a sudden?

This is a task for your instructor to explain: go ask your teacher for a detailed explanation, your assignment needs more guidance from them. They are so far training you quite well.

HTH

You started putting your dimensions in Paper Space. Never a good idea. If you move your model space objects nothing links up.

Like they say, you must use many different Layers for what your are asking to do. This also includes layers for your dimensions that will match each view port you need to make.

Also, you want to use Paper Space and Viewports to control your views. There you and turn off all of the unwanted Object layers and unwanted Dimension Layers.

Here is a great link to how add Dimensions in 3D.

Link: AutoCAD 3D Dimensioning Tutorial | AutoCAD 3D Dimension in Z Axis | AutoCAD 3D Tips and Tricks - YouTube

Hope this helps.

JRR.
