Hey everyone!

I have a problem with file size (>10MB for simples drawings) and I found that it is connected with one specific STYLE. I dont know from where I get this STYLE. Before time I has a problem with a layer with similar name. When I deleted this layer (laydel), purged the file and "wblock" I get files with reduced file sizes (from 10MB to >1MB). Now the problem comes back, but now I cant delete STYLE, because its not listed in style manager... I cant select the style, when try to select it, autocad just transfers me to the another STYLE.

Ive tried to dgnpurge, -purge, recover, audit, wblock and etc. When I try to copy just one line from corrupted file to another new dwg I transfer the bad STYLE with it.

Done. I made a single line in the corrupted file and ctrl-shift-copy it to the new one. File size gets similar to corrupted file. There are no any other items from the old file.

Looks like it is an app, ArmCAD 6 that is causing this bloating.

The polyline itself has many vertices and is large in file size too.

You can purge the DWG but it might break things. Save to DXF R12 format and then back to DWG and purge all.

You are right about saving as DXF and back to dwg - the file just crashing. The file size is about 10MB and nothing can compress it 😞

If you really want to you can try save to the newest version of DXF and then open it and save as DWG then save to the previous DXF and continue like this all the way back to R12. In between you can purge all and optionally run AUDIT. I've seen cases where this works but it might require some test both with and without purging and audit as it might hang or crash AutoCAD. In some cases it can help to open the DWG and try similar steps in a non-AutoCAD program.
