..in other words.. You CAN NOT ADD or EDIT lineweights to AutoCAD/DWG,

the workaround is to use a plotstyletable with editeds lineweight-settings (see Valentins post)

In my case My CTB has 0.12 mm line thickness in CTB I am going to develop layer style according to CTB but fail to assign a line thickness of 0.12 to a layer

Hi,

You can only Edit lineweight from layout space .. Page Setup Manager > Modify > Edit ( ctb) > Edit Lineweights .

You can select only the listed line weight in Layer Property Manager

If you want to plot based on layer lineweight, select either acad.ctb (for color plots) or monochrome.ctb (for black/white plots), and leave the CTB lineweight to "Use object lineweight". This way you will get what you see on screen based on your layer settings - just make sure to turn On the "Display Lineweight" to get a visual (Note: they are always plotted, even if they are not displayed). These lineweights are the default settings and can only be edited in Plot or the Page Setup dialog boxes (the change will not show in the layer setting). If you are looking for a 0.12mm, your best option is to choose the closest available lineweight.

By Editing your lineweight in CTB (based on lineweight of Color), you are overriding the "layer lineweight".

To display your CTB setting on your screen, click or check the "Display plot styles" in the Page Setup.

However, if you want to control the lineweight by Name Style - consider STB Plot Styles.
