How do I take my autocad dwg that changed into a BAK file that opens in an internet explorer to where i cna open it in autocad 2020? I have no idea what to do. how do i change it to a dwg file?

Nothing to do with AutoCAD!

AutoCAD can not open *.bak files, except via Recovery Manager,

the is no link in windows to open a *.bak file in AutoCAD.

If you like the Icon, you can RightClick, Open With... <choose another program, for example EDITOR>

You don't have an issue, just a wrong expection.

I know it's not CAD but the fact is that this was a BAK file that I restored through one drive and accidentally opened with explorer and now it is not letting me change it back to an average BAK file so I can change it into a dwg file as it should be.

I take it you are referring to the file with the ID icon, named "cad.dwg" ??

If you open it in Notepad -- what does the first line say?

And, in Windows Explorer go the the View Tab, and Check the "File Name Extensions" box.

It IS(!) A bak file, check the file type column.

Are you looking in a cloud service's folders in your screenshot by chance?
I see a "reload" double-arrow icon next to status (and clouds icons elsewhere) that tells me you're missing something more important perhaps, namely where you are.

I found that this fixes wrong file associations to the ".bak" file. When your ".bak" file has an IE icon on it right click on the file and pick properties, under the general tab you can pick change "opens with". The default here is typically "pick app" for .bak files. What has happened is the file is now associated to IE. Unfortunately, you cannot reverse this once it has been changed from the default status. To correct this do the following:

Create a blank .txt file and name it "Dummy File.txt"
Change the .txt to .exe
Go to the file with the .bak that is showing the IE icon (note this works for any icon)
Reassociate the file to the "Dummy File.exe" you just created. This will update all the icons to look like a txt file icon
Delete the "dummy file.exe" you created
Reboot the PC

All icons will be returned to the normal white icon.
