Hello,

My question is quite simple. Let's say that I have 5 blocks, which each of them contain an attribute with the value of 5 under the 'QTY' name. All of my five blocks have the same name, let's say AAA.

In my table, I'd write AAA (custom field), and then next to it, I'd like to sum all of the QTY to be calculated automatically. That would result to a sum of 25. Is it possible ? I can add single object, but I can't figure out how to add multiple field to a cell. Is it possible ? I don't want to have a table for each objects, and to sum up afterwards. Otherwise I'd have used the dataextration if I wanted that.

Regards,

David

Thank you for answering.

I would like to have the total from the table A directly into a cell. Meaning, instead of doing the whole Table - A with 4 rows by adding one object one by one, I'd add only a single entry for BB in the table - b, and create the sum from the cell directly with many fields attributes. Is that possible ? In other words, I'm trying to add "multiple attributes field in one cell." Just like an excel would do =B5+H6+B3 for instance.

For some odd reasons, the total doesn't show up and it's being replaced with ### ... anyone know the why ?

Link to file : https://we.tl/t-BWcMDmPN7C

In the total of table A you get the #### because you are trying to sum the total of different texts, the fields counts as a text because they are looking at an attribute of a block, which is a text object.

Preface the fields with an equal sign which will treat the field as a formula and will recognize that the value is a whole number instead of a text so instead of [field-object-QNT] make the text =[field-object-QNT] you will see that the cell value changes from text to whole number.

In the case of table B you would need to make it a formula field: =A+B+C where A,B,C are each a field referring to the object QNT value. The disadvantage here is that if you add a fourth block you would need to update your field formula to add a fourth variable. (in the example above I'm just refering to the total cell value in table A)

I don't know if there's a diesel expression where you can calculate how many BB block there are in the drawing and then add each of their QNT attributes. People more adept at that than me will have to show how to do this.

Thank you !

This is indeed my problem, where, my table is adding or suppressing rows. Which, unlink my references in the B table. I don't know how to solve this problem either and I can't find any documentation that would indicate that it's actually possible.

In the architecture field, we merge by categories, so this way of working with counts doesn't work for us.

Maybe somebody will know. Thank you again Michiel.

EDIT : I have come across this solution for cell which this particular formula : =Sum(field_attribute_01+Field_attribute_02), but I would rather have a dataextraction or something more efficient to do it when it breaks or something.

You could have a lisp made as @JTBWorld suggested that will do the count and sum total functions for you and that will create a static table with the values (perhaps with an update function, or with the use of reactors could even be a non-static table). Jimmy can definitely help you with that or maybe you can find some things over at the autolisp & customization forums that help you on your way.

You could also try to work with data links, create a data-extraction (Excel) of your blocks with their attributes and values, and then on a second page (or document) do your calculations with those values in Excel. You can make several datalinks with ranges refering to your calculations to create the tables that you need. In case you work with two files you can just overwrite the data-extraction excel everytime your drawing changes to update the calculations in your other excel and have them reflected in your data-linked table.

It is a work-around but it requires both someone adept at excel and a user that knows how datalinks and extractions work so they know how to 'refresh' them without breaking them.
