I have a rectangular block and have then drawn a semi-circle on one side. I am trying to extrude this semi-circle to cut a semi-circular hole through the block but when I try to select the semi-circle it keeps selecting the entire face.

I have attached the .dwg file which should be helpful (apologies if it is inelegant as I am new to this software). Hopefully it's clear in the file that I punched circle holes which go through a curved block, and then I am trying to cut a hole through this time given by the semi-circle. The semi-circle was made by drawing and joining two separate curves on the face which might be part of the problem.

Hi,

>> to cut a semi-circular hole through the block

If you really referring to an AutoCAD block then you can't use boolean operations between one object with a block.

>> I try to select the semi-circle it keeps selecting the entire face.

A semi circle is not a closed object. So extruding the object does not result in a volume (3D-Solid) and so can not create a hole in another 3D-Solid.

>> Does anyone know a simple way around this?

With just seeing the screenshot and so not knowing what you really have ... no. Upload the dwg-file and we can (most probably) return with valid suggestions.

Hi,

sorry, this is what I see:

So I have no idea which objects you really mean, 120 object and I expected we get a dwg-file 2 objects, on block (or one 3D-Solid) and one object representing the semi circle.

Hi,

ok, you might are referring to this location? Then command _PRESSPULL could be the function you are looking for ... as shown in the video:

That is exactly what I am trying to do, but when I use PRESSPULL it just selects the face on which the semicircle is drawn, I cannot seem to select objects on the face.

Hi,

>> when I use PRESSPULL it just selects the face on which

>> the semicircle is drawn

When you start with a view similar to my one (so you can see the semi circle and your other 3D-Solid behind, then you start command _PRESSPULL and move your cursor inside the semi circle (inside, not the border) ... just cursor move, no click, does it highlight your semi circle?

No, although I was able to brute force it by moving the semi-circle away from the face and then press pulling it all the way through.
