Nested Xref Attachments and Visretain Changes???

I remember a time when one Xref attached a drawings, which may have had within it a nested Xref (in which the xref-dependent layers had be overridden by the host drawing settings) and when that host/intermediate drawing was then Xreffed into a plotting sheet or subsequent host, that the nested XREF would retain the settings of the host file that it was attached into.

This seems to be horribly broken now. What's up with that? I thought that, perhaps, the new VISRETAINMODE settings might fix it, but it seems to be a pretty worthless sysvar....disappointed!

Are you actually needing to use XREFOVERRIDE variable instead? Introduced a few versions ago now, and seems to be what you are asking for if I understood your query correctly.
