How do you update attributes on existing blocks? I need to update info on blocks on a source drawing for a pallete

Hi,

I have an existing palette and the source file with the blocks. I need to update the attributes on several on these existing blocks and add these to a new Palette. I have tried updating the attributes in properties and in block editor but they disappear, and revert back to the original, when inserted from the new palette.

Can anyone help with how I do this?

You say you have Pallett 1 all setup and good for that type of Pallett.

Save Pallett 1 drawing. Now do a SAVEAS Pallett 2 drawing.

Now go to Rename Blocks and rename the block name you used for Pallett 1 to Pallet 2’s identification you need.

Now make all the changes you need for the new Pallett 2 drawing using Block Editor.

( I am assuming you can’t just update the attributes by just clicking onto the block and typing the new name, sizes, etc ? )

Once you make the changes, save and close your block edits.

Now type BATTMAN and sync your block’s attributes.

You may want to try BATTMAN on what you did so far. Maybe it will fix it. Syncing the attributes is your problem when you change attributes like you are wanting.

If this don’t work, upload your files and we all can take a stab a helping.

so make a copy of your source file , update the attributes of the blocks you want to keep for the new palette , you best off renaming them to unique names to avoid issues if you use new and old versions on the same drawing later. then add the new blocks to your new palette

Small tip: inside the block editor there's a SAVE AS feature so you don't have to copy to a new drawing and rename the block there.

It's in the drop down menu in the open/save panel.
