I have a bunch of icons embedded in a dll file, one for light icons one for dark icons, that we use for all of our custom ribbon buttons. The images themselves are fairly old and do not conform to the standard sizes of 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels. Setting the system variable RIBBONICONRESIZE to 0 should tell AutoCAD not to resize the images and this is how we have typically setup AutoCAD in the past and everything looked fine. Unfortunately after installing all of our custom tools in AutoCAD 2022 it seems that things are not working as they use to. In AutoCAD 2022 all icons seem to be resized to 16x16 or 32x32 regardless of the system variable RIBBONICONRESIZE. Switching the variable from 1 to 0 is only shifting the position of the icons but the size looks to be the same. Anyone else come across this issue or know of a fix?

Bit of work but the best answer is to replace all those old bitmaps.

I drew my custom icons in AutoCAD, then used PNGOUT to make them PNG files, then used a free online editor to give them a transparent background so they'd display as nice as the built in icons in light or dark mode.

Thanks for the reply but not at all what I was asking about. I understand how to create or change old images if needed but this is the exact thing I am trying to avoid since it’s over 500 images that would need to be updated. As previously stated in previous versions of AutoCAD this was not a problem. With the system variable OFF the images would just be displayed at there actual size but this behavior seems to not be working properly in AutoCAD 2022.

Just to add some additional clarification, the images are .ico files inside dll files. None of the files inside the dll are displaying correctly in AutoCAD 2022. For example if the icon images is 24x24 pixels it will not display at this size. I do have a handful of .png files that are not inside of a dll and they display correctly even though they do not conform to the standard sizes of 16x16 or 32x32. Just trying to get the .ico file inside the dll to behave the same way.

Download/install and test AutoCAD2021/2023: same problem remains? Then start a support ticket through your subscription portal as explained here for a final word on the topic https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options#:~:text=To%20contact%20support%3A,to%20access%20help%20and%20support.

Problem gone? There is your answer (whichever other version worked just fine), you get to kick that can down the road for another year or two or three.

Good luck.
