Hi all

I am using AutoCAD 2023 and I'm trying to create a 3 point Arc following an instruction manual from school that is made for AutoCAD 2015.

I am following it step by step but can't complete the task!!

1. I have to create a box 200x175.

2. I have to create a 3 point Arc by "snapping" the lowest left corner and use extend to go 45 up. Then I have to press "e" for endpoint and go to the upper left corner and "snap" it and extend it 45 down. Then I have to press "r" for radius and make it 45. But it doesn't work!!

I have created a short video where I record my screen and talk to show what I am trying to do.
https://youtu.be/wN0sgCeT73M
I hope someone can help me asap because I'm really bugged out about it...

Thanks in advance 🙂

could you elaborate please? They changed the way AutoCAD mechanics work, so I can not do what I am trying to?
Is there any other similiar way to do it?
I want to Arc it with the same distance from the edges. Or do I have to calculate the value everytime?

When drawing 3pt ARC is required this order: start - mid - end point The order cannot be changed (only revered by holding CTRL).

But your attempt was start - end - mid...

Either use this option in the correct order or use another method. But since the mid point could be difficult to get, it would prefer other methods:

ARC Start, End, Radius

CIRCLE 2 points, then trim.

CIRCLE center, radius, trim

See these methods HERE

Not sure what you were taught or how, but your video is not how 3P Arcs are created.

Go back to your instructor for guidance, I suspect you missed a step.

As others have pointed out, that process is to make a Start/End/Radius Arc, not a 3-point Arc. The problem in this particular situation is that Object Snap Tracking for some reason will not agree to be used for that Endpoint option, even though its little green + appears at the intended tracking-from point. You can see this by what it is showing you it's measuring the distance from if you type something in [from the Arc's start point, rather than from the upper left corner you're trying to Osnap-Track from].

I would do it this way: Start the Arc command, and for the starting point, use Object Snap Tracking as you have been doing. But after specifying that point, use the Center option, and Object Snap to the MIDpoint of that edge of the rectangle. Then the completion of the Arc is easy and obvious.
