topic Sweep a dynamic block in AutoCAD Forum

Hello there,

Probably already answered, but couldn't find anything appropriate. I am looking to Sweep a Block, how can I do that? I know I can sweep a polyline, but I could only do that, when the polyline was not a Block.

The thing is, I would like to create a cable tray, simple polyline. Now, I created a Dynamic Block, with 4 different sizes (100,200,300 & 400). Is there a way to sweep a dynamic block? If dynamic block doesn't work, does an "ordinary" block work? This way I could save different blocks under each size.

I also tried to do extrude (cable tray) and it only worked with array, but than the size couldn't be changed (100,200 etc.), it was like I had to pick one or the other. Can I do both and how? (This would actually be more useful for my another project).

And at the same time, Sweep would be preferable (for this issue), since the path of the cable tray moves in all directions. And moving/rotating the cable tray every time would be wasteful. As you can see, the path is pretty complicated and has variety of sizes (red means attached to ceiling (different Z coordinate)).

Thanks for your help!

SWEEP command has never and still does not work on blocks, just like the error message says when you try to do that on any type of block

"... Cannot sweep or extrude an object of this type.
1 object removed from selection set..."
