Set specific color not to print? Turn off color not layer?

Both Autocad and Civil 3D related. Created an elevation banding surface in civil 3d and it was requested to set a specific color not to print. The entire surface is on it's own layer so I can't just turn the layer printing on or off. We want certain colors to "not print" as the surface gets closer to finished grade. I want to see our drone image underneath when the color is not printed, so it's not acceptable to set the color to 255 or change the screening.

Not ideal but as a workaround the only thing I can think of is exploding the surface and manually deleting the solids with select similar.

I would ask in the C3D forum. They may be able to give solutions that are not available in vanilla AutoCAD.

I've always plotted images with color 250 set to 0% Screening. I've never see an issue with the image being plotted. The plot style doesn't even affect the image. This is a drone image plotted to PDF with an all black color table.

BTW That's out of Civil 3D 2024.
