topic Layer and File Size Correlation? in AutoCAD Forum

Hi all,

I have parts I'm saving as individual files using WBlock. When I open the file it is on a named layer not layer0. If I move the part to layer0, then purge and save the file nearly doubles in size. Is there I'm something I'm not picking up on or does the Layer choice affect the file size and if so why?

Many Thanks

Hi,

>> When I open the file it is on a named layer not layer0.

This is how it's work .. nothing wired !!

>> then purge and save the file nearly doubles in size.

Usually WBLOCK command will reduce your new CAD files size .. depending on your selected items , you may still need to use _purge ( Regapps ) and Audit commands that may help .

Note : Layers usually doesn't effect your drawing file size BUT check if there is any unwanted filters that may cause that .
