Why does Autocad crash every single time when hiding frames of jpegs and pdf's in paperspace?

When I enter fields in the attribute editor the fields sometimes don't populate, why?

I select show frames but don't plot and it's still plotting frames even with PDF and JPEG frames set to 2 using the keyboard commands, why?

Setting paper space to size D using a 36" roll of plotting paper with extents, size to fit, and center selected there's a large margin on the right hand side of the print. Why? What does center print even do if it isn't centering it for prints?

All of the programs, drivers, and hardware are up to date. Working with an 11th gen I7-11700 Intel with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 using 32 gigabytes of ram. These issues are likely not due to the workstation in use and more likely from software bugs in the autocad program.

"keep glitching" means nothing to anyone way over here, sorry. If your NDA does not allow for any sort of file sharing, I suggest you start a support ticket with Autodesk Support through your Accounts Page. need help on how to do that? they will likely want access to your PC and use your files on your PC. Ask for permission from your overlords.

0 turns frames off. Not the same. But it will confirm if any frame remain their are related to your images.

PUBLISH works just like PLOT over here: if image frames only pop-up in PUBLISH then you might have something else going on.

Plot Margins literally have nothing to do with AutoCAD centering plot output (centering happens within the limitations of the driver's margins).

HTH

Located a post from 2001 about printing margins not being equal and some workarounds but why hasn't this problem been addressed by the software developers?

As far as the application crashing when trying to hide frames in paperspace why would that be user error?

It would be nice if center plot actually centered the plot according to the paper roll size selected according to the sized print requested. What does that feature do anyways? Does it work as intended? Users are currently required to use an "old school" workaround and implement their own margins while using a modern printer and the latest version of autocad from what I have found. Would it be difficult for software developers to make a feature that will allow users to center plots that are 2" smaller then the paper roll being used?

A user pointing out bugs in the program shouldn't be labeled the problem when asking about software issues in forums should they?

The problem with blaming old files or the user and not the application is that if you would have read the posts it has been indicated that the issue is intermittent on extensions of the same template file that was used.

What is the problem you most want solved. You have come with quite a list and this thread is hard to follow and without the problem drawing we are forced to play a more difficult game of guess and check.

If printing is the issue have you confirmed that there are no CAD items in the area to the right? I have frequently seen hidden or unnecessary items in drawings that move the extents window. You can try printing to a window instead of extents to be sure.

Hi,

Post 3:

>> All of the programs, drivers, and hardware are up to date

Post 5:

>> T.72.0.0 AUTOCAD 2023 0.1

So you do not have the current updates installed.

>> When I enter fields in the attribute editor the fields sometimes don't populate

On my side ... it does.

>> I select show frames but don't plot and it's still plotting frames

I don't have this problem with my drawings and my (referenced) images.
Currently we don't know if your images are embedded or referenced, this could make a difference

>> Around 6 out of two dozen keep glitching

So it does not happen with all drawings. Which I then assume: it could be the program, but it could be the drawing structure/content too!
Which file formats do you use to save?

What happens when running command _AUDIT with these dwg-files?

I appreciate the time and consideration to help resolve these problems occurring. While reaching out to HP I'm told there is no way to currently adjust the printing area on the paper roll print out using their software which is interesting. Additionally there has been an update to AutoCAD since I made this post which has been installed but I have not checked to see if the crashes are still occurring or if the batch plot pdf will show frames on images. The images where embedded with copy paste.

After creating a new document with nothing on it and attempting to plot from pdf as well as directly from autocad it has generated the exact same result with a 2" margin on the right side of the plot, I've also tried plot window as well as plot layout instead of plot extents doing this which has the same results. It must be some sort of default nesting protocol to start the print on the left and print towards the right with no way to adjust it using HP software. So far the best solution I have come across is to account for the margin while generating the document leaving a 1" gap on the left side of the paperspace, but I have concerns that it might throw off the scaling of the end plot if not done correctly. Essentially what the workaround seems to be currently is to change the entire page setup to a 36" sheet instead of a 34" sheet for the ANSI D size the end user requests, which is problematic for several reasons including scaling I think. It might be better to trim off the extra margin but didn't think it would be such a process to center the plot onto the paper sheet being printed on. Does anyone know a better workaround for this issue occurring to prevent needing to trim copious plots off the plotter?

Hi,

>> The images where embedded with copy paste

Not the preferred method, at least for most of my workflows.

In that case please pay attention to use the correct variable, now you have to look to 3 variables:

FRAME

OLEFRAME

IMAGEFRAME
