Advice re spec for laptop

Our young person attends college (17 years old) and for his course requires a new laptop which will support Auto CAD 2025.

He has been told a touch screen would be best option but we have no idea as to spec required for graphics cards, processors, RAM or storage etc so don’t know where to start looking! Also, we do not want to spend huge amounts of money as he is undecided if we wants to continue beyond the course!

Any advice & suggestions of suitable laptops or what we should be looking at would be very much appreciated!

Whilst I can't make any recommendation of specific hardware, the minimum system requirements are likely to be a good place to find a minimum price, with recommendations from AutoCAD Community members (I've moved your post to the AutoCAD Community) who will be able to make specific recommendations on where more of your budget should be allocated.

If you currently have a laptop and it fits the minimum requirements (though the graphics card may not necessarily be certified) you can always download the autocad trial to see how it runs
