No there are not. All the line weight settings I could find are set to 0. These lines were imported as a block and I have the same problem even when I open them by themselves. It seem as if they are in some way locked. I should note I cannot change the color either. I also tried exploding them, but that didn't help.

Hi, I am having a problem with a drawing entity that I imported into AutoCAD. The lines imported with a line weight that is too heavy. However when I tried to change the line weight settings, the lines do not display or plot any different. The only way the thickness changes is with the display min/max slider. However even on min they plot too thick and with line weight off they are too thin when printed. How can I change the line weight to a correct thickness. Thanks

perhaps the objects you imported have their own lineweights defined and needs to be changed to bylayer?

These objects were created in another program and had lineweights set and then imported into AutoCAD. The problem seems to be much deeper than just lineweights because I can't change color or linetype either. It doesn't matter whether I change it by layer or otherwise. In fact the layer it is on is set to white but it displays red. The same goes for the lineweight.

@sidneyM9BFC wrote:

These objects were created in another program and had lineweights set and then imported into AutoCAD.

If the other program cannot control lineweights to meet your needs when exporting, then you will have to manually change them yourself after the fact in AutoCAD.

if these are blocks you need to use BEDIT or REFEDIT or SETBYLAYER commands to correct, if they are on locked layers you need to unlock them first, if these are object overrides you need to change then t BYLAYER yourself, if these are XREFs then you need to ensure you are not fighting your own VISRETAIN variable setting in that top file.

If you are totally new to AutoCAD and have no idea how to use it to fix your content, just let us know then share a sample DWG file here for someone to walk you through it step by step.

your imported sample object is a BLOCK - use LIST command to see this

Use BEDIT command to edit the object

Then you'll see that they are all LINES with set Color as RED and Lineweight as 1.20 mm

Use CHPROP command and select all these LINES and change COLOR & LWeight to BYLAYER

Then use BCLOSE command & SAVE to complete the changes
