Viewpoint presets

If I type in an angle with decimal numbers it rounds the number to one decimal place. In this case I’m typing -3.068 degrees.

Is there some setting to change so it doesn’t round off? Hope you can help me. Thank you.

In UNITS command, change the precision level of angles to more than 0.0 to see if that helps.
NOTE: this is a per-DWG file setting.

Still rounds off to one decimal place.

Maybe a limitation of the DDVPOINT command.

You can try just using the command line version which will accept two decimal places:

-VPOINT

Rotate

I was assuming that it was only rounding in display, and that the "real" stored value would be correct. But I find that's not true. With my Units angle precision set to the maximum 8 decimal places, if I use the dialog-box VPOINT and type in 45.12345 for the angle from the XY plane, it shows as 45.1. If I then go into the command-line -VPOINT command and its Rotate option [since it will show more decimal places according to the Units setting], it shows the current setting for that as 45.10000000 -- the value that the dialog box display rounded it to, not the value I typed in. I can type in my 45.12345 there, and then recall the command-line version and that value remains. But if I call up the dialog-box version again, even if I only then pick OK without changing anything, that spoils it, because then even in the command-line version the default has reverted to the rounded 45.1000000. Very disappointing.

Since this is one of the first dialogue driven commands autodesk didn’t have any reason to update it. But it seems pretty easy to replicate using lisp and DCL to add the additional precision
