How do I display white text in Model, but print black?

New to AutoCAD... The background in Model view is dark, I'd like to display the text as white while in the program, but have it print as black.

Anyone know how to do this?

Use the White color. AutoCAD prints this color as black but displays it as white.

If you wanted to print in white, you would need to use custom RGB color 255,255,255.

OOhhh! That makes so much more sense! I didn't realize that there was a difference between "white" and 255. Thank you!

White (aka 7) ≠ 255 ≠ RGB(255,255,255). They're all distinct. You can access the RGB colors from the True Color (2nd) tab.

When you're ready for the next level, check out what you can do with Plot Styles, assigning whatever print values you want (including RGB colors) based on the Index colors.

With some planning and a plot style you can use "WHITE" (color 7) as one color and another color WHITE(255,255,255) and map them as you need.
We often have to print white text on a black background - and also black text on a white background - but in Autocad they are BOTH going to be "white" on the computer screen, but to print correctly, they have to be mapped to different plot colors.

Typically we setup two different layers - Text and Text-Invert.
Text is color 7 and Text-Invert is 255,255,255
Both look white on screen, but they will print as desired.

Another trick is to use another color number and setup a plotter.ctb that maps the color to print the color you want.
