Thanks for the suggestions.

I've made sure all items are added to workspaces as default, so it's not that.

As for loading via Lisp, one of my partials is loaded using ACADDOC.lsp and that doesn't work either. It's as if AutoCAD has turned off all custom items without saving their previous state.

So I need a way of automatically toggling the toolbars etc back on using Lisp. The command line -TOOLBAR might help but toggling drop-down menus? Anyone know?

Using AutoCAD Map 2021 but assume this is common to plain AutoCAD and verticals...

I have some partial CUIX files on a network drive. They load into AutoCAD fine and the toolbars etc all work. If I start AutoCAD while the network drive is not available then the CUIX files will obviously not be available and their toolbars, drop-down menus etc are not loaded. No problem, just close AutoCAD, wait for drives to connect and restart AutoCAD. The CUIX files are loaded but all associated drop-down menus, toolbars etc have been switched off. I have to go into the CUI and manually turn them all on again.

Under WSSETTINGS, if I select "Do not save changes to workspace" the toolbars etc are retained after a network drive loss.

Is the above behaviour expected?

I believe this is default behavior.

However you might want to check the settings per Toolbar/Ribbontab.

A Toolbar has the property 'Default display' which (to my knowledge) by default is set to 'Do not add to workspace'.

You can change it to 'Add to workspace'.

Same goes for RibbonTabs.

Or you might have to create a function/lisp to load the cuix and add the toolbars/Ribbontabs.

May I ask why you don't use the more senseful and default setting

'Do not save..'

?

Without that setting, workspaces are not really useful.

Old habit which I haven't seen fit to change until now. A long, long time ago when I first encountered Workspaces, I set mine up beautifully then thought "I wonder what that other WS looks like?". Flicked into it - AutoCAD gave no warning of what was about to happen - then flicked back only to find my beautiful Workspace reset to default. That was the day I set "Automatically save...".

Anyway, back to the task in hand. The solution might well be to set WS to "Do not save.." but my interest is piqued - is there a solution for where WS is set to "Auto save..."?
