I'm currently using ACAD 2022, previously I was using 2021, and a guy in my office uses 2020. When anyone in the office uses 2021 or newer we get this purple overlay when exporting the overlay. I don't have the option to go back to 2020 in my organization.

[ The subject line of this post has been edited to include the product name by @handjonathan ]

Forgive me, but I think there is something missing from your post(s): are you just finding COMPARE command acting differently?
Or just the object colors are different in COMPARE?
Or are you in "XREF COMPARE" command in 2022 (not available in 2020)?

And what does "exporting the overlay" mean for those of us that cannot see your screen or the commands you are using?

TIA

I use the compare command, everything looks perfectly normal. The colors are separated into existing versus different in the drawings. When I export that comparison, the entire drawing turns to one color as you can see in the attached drawing. The comparison color scheme has completely changed and you cannot see what is different between the drawings.

You can only adjust the colors when you are creating the compared overlays. It changes colors once I have exported it and there is no option to adjust the colors at that point.

I have the same issue. Feedback from Autodesk was that the issue was linked to a dimension object(s) in the drawing. Unfortunately I have dimension objects in every block because of dynamic feature so I have not found a viable solution.

This thread is very old, but this is what the poster means, on the left is the active compare done on autocad 2024, the image on the right is after exporting the compare, you can see the grey lines became purple. I don't now any countermeasure as of today. Edit: It actually does keep it's colors after i open it in Autocad 2024, the image on the right is actually from the app "DWG Trueview", which is the one where the colors really change.
