AutoCAD and Its Applications - Advanced: Chapter 12 P12-5C

My class mates and I have finished this drawing all the way up to the last edit. It wants us to use SOLIDEDIT to taper the base out 5 Degrees, but no matter how we do it we cannot seem to get it to work. We have found out how to do this without the command, but it is against the spirit of the problem. Has anyone figured out how to solve this?

It gives a hint saying the base cannot be directly tapered, but short of redrawing the object without the filletedge and then using taper from there it will not work with us. Is this even possible?
5. Mechanical Construct the solid part shown using as many SOLIDEDIT options as possible. Then, perform the following edits on the solid.
A. Change the 2.625″ height to 2.325″.
B. Change the 1.625″ internal diameter to 1.425″.
C. Taper the outside faces of the .875″ high base at a 5° angle away from the part. Hint: The base cannot be directly tapered.
D. Save the drawing as P12-5

The exercise @pendean linked to seems straightforward with no issues using taper. It might help if you turn on 3d snap and activate center of face. Then rotate the view to slightly below level to see the underside. Grip move the bottom of cylinder to the box at the center of the bottom face. Then subtract and then taper. For the first taper select all the outside vertical faces of the box. Then pick the bottom middle edge on one side, turn on ortho and then pick upward. Enter 5. This tapers in. Negative 5 tapers out. When tapering the cylindrical hole, pick the top edge first and then the bottom. Enter 5.

Here is a gif that demonstrates an outward taper on a box.
