AutoCAD 2023 image map issue

I create a new material with image map. When I attach it to the cylinder, it always display two circles. How can I get rid of the second circle? I think it is likely the bug of AutoCAD. Anyone can answer this question?

Try adjusting the size of the image and use the command "MATERIALMAP" to map the material to the cylinder 🙂

I have seen that. I try to follow the youtube instruction. It always display two circles in the cylinder. The materialmap command also has bug. No matter I move the arrow of direction, the image map of a cylinder does not move. But the image map of a box is able to move any directions. It is probably a bug! Or someone hack the AutoCAD!

I tried to create similar situation on my end on AutoCAD 2023 and I didn't any issue with material mapping. Can you share you drawing, so I can look into it?

Unlink the the width-to-height aspect ratio then double the value of the width to halve the number of tiles for the width. Experiment with height and width value till you get a combination you like.

The drawing still displays two **** circles. Could you give me all the parameters of the material and the size of the cylinder? I want to draw the exact same thing as your drawing in order to point out the ridiculous bug!

The control of material mapping in AutoCAD is very awkward and I can understand your frustration. The challenge is increased when working with an image like a circle where you do not know what is up or down or if the image is rotated. Sometime I apply the standard checker material to get a feel for how the mapping is being applied. For example, in the image below you can clearly see that where the seam lies.

Since the radius of your cylinder is 100, the circumference is about 628. Entering this for the width yields.

Switching back to referencing your circle image yields.

and the circle is clipped at the seam. Now you would think, or at least I would, that you could could edit the offsets and scale and get one image. I tried with little success. Note that if Tiling is set to none, two tiles appear when there should only be one.

This leads me to the conclusion that there is a bug in AutoCAD (2023) with cylindrical tiling.

You could experiment with an image that has a larger background but my advice would be to use 3ds Max which has exceptional controls for material mapping. AutoCAD material mapping is just too primitive with an awful user interface.

We have the consensus now. Next, how do I solve this issue? I need to attach an image map with ONE circle. I am not used to using 3ds max.

Will you need to view the cylinder from more than one vantage point? If not, then you may be able to adjust the mapping so it looks good from one direction. Here's an example. I used the attached image file with more round numbers (i.e., 500x500) for the size.

This is not the solution. I need exactly one circle in the image map. Does the bug only exists in AutoCAD 2023?

I don't know as I do not track AutoCAD bugs. If the bug were to be fixed it would probably take a while.

In the meantime if all you want is a circle pattern you could achieve that will a few cylinders and some Boolean operations as I did here.
