AutoCAD 2023 - Drawing utilities units not available

I'm trying to check/amend the units through drawing utilities in 2023, I have latest update. Following the process I've used for years and select units, the top menu bar greys out, _UNITS is in the command line, but the box that used to come up doesn't and the programme appears frozen. Press ESC and I get the non-photometric lights message up.

Anyone else getting this issue?

Hi,

Looks like the dialog is open, but not on your visible part of your screen.

Start Units again,

Press

[ALT]+[SPACE]

[M]

Hit one arrow key, like the one for right [->]

and now, move the mouse around without pressing any key.

Test it with a visible dialog if you are not sure to do it right.

For example: RENAME command..

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry that doesn't work. I tried with rename and pressing M and hitting an arrow key just moves to the next choice in the selection list, moving the mouse does nothing.

Hi Jerry,

you ignored the first step! That's why it is good to train with a visible dialog. Try it again!

Start Rename

1. Press [ALT]+[SPACE]

2. Press [M]

3. Hit one arrow key, like the one for right [->]

4. and now, move the mouse around without pressing any key.

If it works with the Rename dialog, try the same with _Units

Still without success on visible dialogs, or just not for the Units dialog?

This is how it should work (sorry for the german menu screenshots):

Another thing:

[WIN]+[Shift]

and [->] or [<-]

can toggle dialogs between monitors

I've tried this on my work PC and it's fine, works OK, not that I had an issue with missing dialogue boxes. Thanks for your help and I'll have to investigate further with my home office PC.

Hi Sebastian,

You'll be pleased to hear I've resolved this issue. After further digging I discovered that an MS utility called Powertoys was running in the background. When opened you can see the the Alt + Spacebar is used as a command for this. Turn Powertoys off and voila, the windows sub menu came back. I had to turn one of my screens off to make it easier as the units window didn't appear in view. Hit ESC and then call up units again and the dialogue box was back.

Hello, I am having the same problem with the Units command specifically freezing the program - i tried the [ALT] [SPACE] , M, arrow, and moving cursor and this unfreezes it for me (or if i select Close instead of Move) but I am still unable to change the units either through just typing the Units command or going through drawing utilities. The problem started when I was using two monitors but I have restarted my laptop several times and am only using one screen now but the problem has remained! I do not have this powertoys thing installed on my computer so not sure what else to do! Grateful for any help!! please

Hi Jerry,

I know this might be a more than a year issue, but i came across the same issue as yours, i was able to retrieve the units dialog back by doing a reset to the profile in the Autocad options.

hope this can help others
