@andrew8QEC8 in AutoCAD, not any other CAD software, STRETCH command only lets you perform one selection set. It's always been like that, so I'm not sure how long you've been struggling with the command.

Would grip editing/stretching be an option instead?

I am trying to get the stretch command to work with multiple object lines and rectangles I am selecting using the green crossing window. I can only stretch one single line at a time.

If anyone is familiar with RhinoCAD the command equivalent I am looking for is scale1D.

I can pretty much never get the command to work on multiple objects in AutoCAD.

perhaps you and record a screen video to show us what you're trying to do?

if crossing fails, try cp = crossing polygon then you can change directions in creating a polygon instead of a rectangle

Are you talking about selecting multiple Lines/Polylines/whatever with one green crossing window, but it's not catching all of them? [A video capture would help.]

If you mean that you want to select things by multiple separate crossing windows within one command, and Stretch all those selections in the same direction by the same distance, look into the MSTRETCH Express Tool.

And of course, the perhaps-too-obvious questions: Things are not on locked Layers? Or parts of Blocks?

If you have access to a full AutoCAD there is a multiple stretch tool (MSTRETCH) in the Express Tools

You can also do a multiple stretch by doing a grip edit. Select the objects you wish to stretch, use the shift to select the individual grips you want to stretch and then click and move a single grip. All selected grips (even if they belong to different objects) will move with the same distance / angle.

EDIT: I just realized that you might have another wish altogether, and I misunderstood the original question. If you wish to stretch an object in a single direction, you can do the following:

make a block (_BLOCK) from your object -> make sure you do not mark 'scale uniformly' -> insert your block or convert your items to your first block reference. -> change the X or Y scale independently in the properties palette -> explode the block.

Most of these answers are acceptable for anything that is not a bunch of unconnected lines. However none of these methods work with the simple multiple line objects, with the exception of the mstretch command, which is drawn with its own crossing window that is prompted from the command lines. So I am going to say that this is the correct answer. Especially for objects using blocks and allowing to not scale uniformly.

So I guess you have to use different approaches for different things. Lines vs objects.

MY thinking was going along the lines of how you were making your selection window. left to right or right to left.
