.dxe files not opening

I have a user that is trying to open .dxe files. Formerly they were opening with AutoCAD 2021 but somehow the .dxe file association got flipped to open with excel. We flipped it back to AutoCAD but now when he tries to open files, it will open AutoCAD and then do nothing. Only thing I can think is maybe I'm picking the wrong .exe for it to open with?

dxe files are created using dataextraction command but not to be opened by AutoCAD

Does the .dxe file open what looks like an Excel file?

Useless for you, but if you like: Open Notepad and open a .dxe from notepad.

Parts are readable in XMLschema.

But again: .DXE files are for use in DATAEXTRACTION command, nothing else

you can always try and open it in excel but looks like junk.

I've attached compress file Grill Schedule.dxe that comes as an example packaged with AutoCAD

also here's a screen capture of how it looks like when opened in Excel.
