Have you been successful getting line weights when you’ve printed before without sending it to a pdf?

Hi.

Can anybody help me to find out why I can't see the different line weights on my pdf please? For example the ground line in elevation 1a is not showing darker at all. I am printing to pdf in monochrome. Thanks.

Hi,

Monochrome is a standard plot style that already install with AutoCAD. You may need to edit your own plot style and modify Lineweights from there. Also you need to check Layer's lineweight from Layer manager.

Hello @emma.odering

So you want to plot in monochrome WITH correct line weight.

In modelspace, make all lines display their color using ‘ByLayer.’ Also make all lines display their line weight using ‘ByLayer.’

Select all objects in modelspace=>go to Properties Palette make all objects use ByLayer. See image-1.

Image-1. Properties Palette.

<<Setting the line color and the line weight parameters to ‘ByLayer’ will allow you to CONTROL line appearance through Layer Management.>>

Go to plot window=>monochrome=>click the pen style editor button. See image-2.

Image-2. Plot window.

In the pen style editor dialog window you will FORCE all colors to plot black. By forcing colors to plot black, you are essentially OVERRIDING the plot ByLayer parameter that you established earlier. The style editor also allows you to confirm all your lines plot their line weight ByLayer. Using ByLayer for lineweight means the layer itself controls the plotted line thickness. See image-3.

Image-3. Pen Style Editor.

Note: In the pen style editor you may use CNTL+LEFT CLICK to select multiple layers.

It might be a stupid suggestion, but did you check the 'Plot object lineweights' checkbox when printing? and if yes, would it be possible to share your .dwg so we can try for ourselves?
