Distance: right-click repeat...

Hi all,

After using the Distance command and cancelling it off, if I right-click to 'Repeat last command', ACAD (2027) defaults to 'Quick Measure', but I'd prefer it to simply initialise 'Distance' again without having to make any other selection; you have to select from the mini-menu to measure Distance.

I've looked into the CUI, Sys. Variables, etc., but cannot fathom how to, or if, I can change this setting.

Does anybody know if this possible, and how, please?

Since you need to use Distance option directly, go directly in command line and start DIST command.😊

@gary.sutton9KV7N DIST command is what you want to use, not "measure distance" that only invokes a subset to do what you want by only using <enter> or "repeat last command" (which has never done what you want if the command needs an extra option to be selected).

Just like ZOOM EXTENTS can't be invoked with the "repeat last command", and so many more.

Sorry, I misnamed it: I do use the Distance command (not Measure Distance), but when I right-click to repeat (use it again), it automatically triggers Quick Measure. I just want a rapid repeat of my last command, without having to type or click a mini-menu.

I'll just persevere if there's no way to adjust this setting.

It does not behave that way for me, when I use the DIST command.

To be picky about it: DISTANCE is not a command. The command is DIST, or its default alias DI [and there's also a (distance) AutoLisp function]. DISTANCE is a System Variable that stores the latest result from a DIST command. Are you, in fact, using the right command name?

I'm using the highlighted command in this image... Distance

...I don't usually type the (DIST) command, I simply click the ribbon button.

I get the feeling that it is because I am using this button, as when I type DIST, then click to repeat, it DOES simply repeat that command and not, Quick Measure.

**Update: I've just used the CUI to create a ribbon button with the macro set to ^C^C_DIST, and this now works the same as typing it.

p.s. There's also the legacy button available - I understand what's going off now: the new command is part of the MEASUREGEOM toolset.

Correct, thanks for confirming, as noted by most of the replies to you, you've been using the incorrect command for your exact need: DIST is the command name, not DISTANCE, not MEASUREGEOM's sub-option for distance.

Yes, You're right. As mentioned previously DIST command is your exact need.
