When I enter a CAD drawing and drag or type commands, it lags and stutters so much that I can't work. Does anyone know how to fix this? This severe symptom has been occurring since I updated something.

It would help if you know exactly what you updated.

Also what version of AutoCAD are you running?

Do you have the lastest AutoCAD updates installed?

Enter About command, do a screenshot and share that here.

I have just downloaded and installed a trial version of AutoCAD LT, before buying a license, it says it is 2027. I wanted to make sure everything worked fine on this Laptop. This is the first AutoDesk product that has been installed on the PC.
However, I have the same/similar issue to that listed above.

The cursor jumps, rather than glides, across the screen. This occurs with existing files, or a new blank file using the ISO template.

I have made sure the snap grid is off, but can't find anything that is causing the problem.

What am I missing?

The app is so laggy, that it is unusable. This is a shame, as I have used AutoCAD since r10, just not so much recently, and I was looking forward to using it again.

One other thing to note, the laptop spec is fine, 32GB RAM, 8GB GPU, etc.
I note that when I move the cursor over the menus, the movement is smooth. However, as soon as I move onto the drawing area, the cursor starts lagging.
I have checked Gripmode, snapmode, snap settings, units, etc but nothing seems to improve it. As I said above, I've tried this with existing drawings and new blank drawings (with different templates)
The cursor motion is as if it is trying to snap to the grid. Just drawing a single line takes 5-10 seconds for the cursor to move position.

Any suggestions as to what to try next?

I have resolved the issue I was having (Same). I had to completely uninstall all autocad related software (e.g. autocad 2026, autodesk manager, autodesk save to mobile etc.) completely delete all local windows folder references to autodesk. (I remember 3 locations one in the root of the C: drive, one in program files, and one in public (If you installed only for you and not your entire machine it will be located under your profile)) I Then reinstalled a fresh version of acad 2026 (DO NOT INSTALL 2027). Solved: AutoCad2024-2026 electrical Mouse laggy when in model space - Autodesk Community
