Hi,

I never experience this issue before as I was trying to solid union the square beam and the message appeared below 'UNION
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects: 1 found, 2 total
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 1 found, 3 total
Select objects:
The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.
Modeling Operation Error:
Error Code Number is 18015

So I tried to copy the cross beam like this 'X' in different locations and created a new beam and then it worked which is very odd. Originally I created the square beam by creating the square as a Region and then Extrude it to the long length. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

If you open this drawing with older autocad versions it would say can't union because noncoplanar

with newer versions it said error code ...blah, blah....... and doesn't tell you why.

No, I created a new drawing file and copy the old 2D drawing from the old version in the new drawing and use them as a guide and created the 3D model in the new drawing. Thanks

for some reason in the process of creating the solid one or more planes without thickness have been formed that prevent them from joining you have to find a way to eliminate them or give them some kind of thickness in order to join the solid to another

I found that I got this error 18015 when subtracting 1 solid fro a bunch of smaller solids that it happened
because 2 or more of the selection of smaller 3D solids that I want to subtract the larger volume from were intersecting.
When I try to subtract either one of the intersecting volumes seperately from the larger volume it does so without a problem.

You can try one or more the following the.

The surfaces must be converted to mesh first:

Command CONVTOMESH (MESHSMOOTH)
Select objects
Create mesh
UNION
Select objects
Convert selected objects to faceted 3D solids or surfaces (or to smooth 3D solids or surfaces)

Move the content closer to the origin:

Select all of the components that need to be moved.
Type in MOVE on the command line, and select Enter.
Select a basepoint close to the model.
Type in #,0,0,0.

Scale the content down:

Select all of the content.
Type in SCALE on the command line, and select Enter.
Scale the objects down by a value of your choice.
- Note: 0.1, is equivalent to 10%.
