Is the topic heading a message you are getting when you try to?

If so, but if you can't find the self-intersection, post a small drawing containing the problem object and something about the axis.

I can usually find a culprit, but I cannot find the issue. I checked that the axis is correct (no objects askew or overlapping the axis), everything is on the same plane, I even retraced with a single polyline. It's not a super complicated profile. Any thoughts?

The offset command can be helpful for finding the self intersection. Specify a small distance for the offset and you may find only part of the profile is offset. For example, the red profile is the self intersection polyline. The green is the offset.
