How to Copy or Edit Multileader Content from the Properties Palette in AutoCAD

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to figure out how to copy or edit the content of a Multileader directly from the Properties palette in AutoCAD. The text seems locked, and I'm not sure how to enable editing or copying. Any help or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!"

Thank you for the response suggesting that I click the box next to the 'Text Contents' field in the Properties palette and then press Ctrl+A to select and copy the text. However, I’d really prefer to copy the Multileader content directly from the Properties palette without having to open the text editor. Is there a way to directly copy the multileader text from the Properties palette? Thanks in advance for any tips. Please check the video below, where the user demonstrates how to edit the text and copy it directly from the Properties palette.

No, sorry. You could look in the App Store for something, or buy Draftsight.

I found a video where a user is editing multileader text in AutoCAD without any third-party app. It seems they’re able to do it just with the built-in tools. Could you suggest how to achieve this directly within AutoCAD?

That's not "without any third-party app" -- it's clearly using Draftsight, not just built-in functionality in AutoCAD.

I wanted to let you know that I mistakenly shared a video from DraftSight, thinking it was AutoCAD. I apologize for the confusion. Now I’d like to ask if there’s a built-in option in AutoCAD for editing or copying multileader content directly from the Properties panel, or if there’s a LISP script or another method to achieve this within AutoCAD itself."

In AutoCAD, multileader (MLEADER) content can’t be directly edited via the Properties palette if it’s multiline (MText) content. Instead, follow these steps:

Select the multileader.
Right-click → MText Editor or simply double-click to open the text editor directly.

For copying content:

If it’s simple text, you might see it in the Text Override field in the Properties palette.
Otherwise, double-click the MLeader, press CTRL+A → CTRL+C, then create a new multileader and CTRL+V to paste the copied content.

This method ensures the formatting remains intact and works even with rich text or special characters.
