Hello folks, fighting annotations for an hour... no clue what's going on.

I have a few annotative blocks in L1 layout (in the layout itself), and I want to copy-paste them to the L2 layout. L2 does not show them! It's obviously an annoscale issue.... what and where I need to set to see them?

Thanks

Hi,

annotation feature is not for Layout use, but this wasn't your question, so:

You blockreference supports up to 2 scales:

Your layouts are set to scale 1:100_1 - Standard is 1:1 (so we know someone imported, renamed these layouts or the whole file)

So, annotation objects are visible if scale 1:1000 [1] or 1:1000[2] is current

OR IF ANNOALLVISIBLE is ON

[F1] AnnoAllVisible

"The ANNOALLVISIBLE setting is saved individually for model space and each layout.

Thanks!

Those scales are just for MODEL, don't use them in a layout. So... it's ANNOALLVISIBLE that needs to be on in both layouts and wasn't.

It basically confirms what I thought -- I just applied it a bit inconsistently and hastily.

btw how do you get this dialog showing only assigned scales?

Second question.

If it wanted to assign 1:1000 [1] to the layout, how would I do that?

Hi,

thats the dialog to set or remove scales from/to objects.

In english it should be: command objectscale

But I used the property window.

Mark object

Click the value of annotation scale,

Right of the value appears a button.

Your second Q:

Acad is not designed to do it,

but you can set it by

Select the internal viewport which displaying the layout

or the same - by programming

Edit the first viewport in layout.

It behaves so weird.

IMHO Main viewport should not be affected by the current ANNOALLVISIBLE setting and should always behave as is ON.

>>"..ANNOALLVISIBLE setting and should always behave as is ON"

The whole annotation feature should be disabled in Paperspace

This is a good example of what happens when people program without knowing the program or how to use it.
However, problems can be overlooked and mistakes can happen, but that's inexcusable: ignoring the problem for 18 years.
