Hi, I have the same problem and I don't know how to resolve it.
Why can't I read the answer of "jimmie123"? He say this:

"Edit either the acad.exe.config or the aclt.exe.config file (depends on the version)

the end of the file reads:

Edit the file as so, erase the part that says:

It should just say at the end:"

but you can't see the answer.
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks and excuse me my English.

I get "Unhandled Exception E0434F4D(e0434f4dh) at address 7c81EB33h" when opening the program and also when selecting the Layer Manager. Any ideas as to how to repair? I have tried uninstalling, cleaning out registries and reinstalling, etc. I'm flummoxed.
Thanks,
Well.....TOOLS>OPTIONS>FILE SEARCH PATH. It should have automatically
listed Express but there may have been a problem so if autocad can't
find Express in the Search File Path, then Layer Manager won't be
found. However, HOW are you calling it? It's ONLY available through
Express>Layers.

Let's start over. You say you "get the error when the program loads"
which would mean that you can't operate autocad at all! However, you
also say "and when I select Layers Property Manager" - In what part of
the menu are you picking Layer Properties Manager?

The program loads fine albeit the error message occurs twice and I am able to continue with the program. Then I can use just about any command, but when I use the Layer Properties tool it will not work and I get the error message again. Thanks for checking this out.

I read the referenced post but am unclear as to how the named file is to be modified. I do have the net 2.0 framework and I am also having issues with the Windows Live Care program which is driving me crazy. What does the AcCustomize.dll do? Will a replacement of that file solve the issue?

No - AcCustomize.dll is to REPLACE the file of the same name. You need
to go onto Autodesk site and download their SP1 and you can also
download AcCustomize.dll at the same time (has to do with customizing
the menu and nothing to do with your problem).

I had this problem starting with AutoCAD Map 2006 on to now AutoCAD Map 2007. For the 2006 version I was able to comment the acad.exe.config to look to the .net 1installation

When I installed 2007 I tried a similar approach but that failed.

I finally was able to narrow the issue to the .net 2 install, so i tried installing the SP1; did not fix it either. The .net 3 would not install at all (i suspect the .net 2 problem was to blame).

I realized I had to get rid of the .net 2 install by downloading the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) and delete the .net 2 install from the Ad/Remove Programs dialog. Once this was complete I re-installed .net 2 and then .net 3 (no trouble at all with this install this time) and AutoCAD Map 2007 works great.

Hope this helps.
