Attach leader to text or mtext

why is it that i can sometime attach a leader to text or mtext and other times i cant?

What command are you using to try to connect the two?

QLATTACH is the express tool for this.

Can you post a drawing file that has the problem?

Sorry it took so long to reply.

The issue is elevation. The leaders will not attach to the MText objects if they are not on the same "Z" plane.

Can you use this command with lite version? If so how exactly is this command used? I am trying to link some text to a leader, so when I move the leader it moves the text and visa versa is this the command I would use? Thanks sorry if this is the wrong thread I couldn't find anything on the forum as close to what I am asking as this one.

Hi Mike, This is a really old post, however, the command is still not available in AutoCAD LT. the command to attach the leader to the text is an express tool, which is not available for LT.

I'd recommend using MLEADER in the future, for existing leaders/text, there isnt much you can do in LT other than possibly recreated it as an MLEADER.

I tried this command, it says unknown command. I'm pretty sure it is
because I have the lite version.

Yes, that would be correct, LT cannot run LISP programs. Most of the Express tools were LISP programs, so they fall under the same umbrella.

Even with the full program, I am not able to run this command (mt2ml). I still get the "unknown command" error. I have the full version of AutoCAD - 2013.

How did you load the lisp? Can you post a screenshot of command line history showing unknown command error?

Walk us through exactly how you got the code off the site and into AutoCAD2013 in detail.

I don't know if anyone has answered your question yet regarding MT2ML. It isn't a native command in AutoCAD. To use follow the steps below:

1. Download the MT2ML LISP routine from the web.

2. Use APPLOAD command to load the LISP routine.

3. Type the MT2ML command to start the LISP routine.

If you close AutoCAD you will need to use APPLOAD command to reload the routine.

I am stuck with the same original issue of having leaders that aren't associated with Mtext. Unfortunately I don't have a current version of full blown AutoCAD. Good luck.
