Autocad new layer AM create by itself?

Hello,

I working with AutoCAD standard 2022 and since a few weeks by doing a hatch a new layer AM is created by itself.

I work with my own company layers, how can I stop this?

As I know AM ist for mechanical but I don't work with the mechanical application.

Is this a system variable that needs to be modified?

@francine.zimmermannSRSWJ So this problem is limited to this one file you are in received from someone else? Or does this happen in ALL files, even blank new files, using core commands only found in plain AutoCAD?

Or are you by chance running MECH "as autocad"?

Or you are grabbing/using hatches in a unique way not available to us other plain AutoCAD users, or they are from a MECH source.

There is no "var" to fix it, that ability does not exist in plain AutoCAD anywhere. Sorry.

Does this new AM layer get created in a drawing always on the first time you run the hatch command?

Perhaps you are using a custom hatch command?

What happens if you manually enter the hatch command preceding it with an underline & a period like:

_.HATCH

Provides the steps you take to start the hatch command.

Maybe share a drawing that has this AM layer

I don't know exactly when this happens, perhaps by inserting a block. I've done a purge. I've also reinserted this drawing into a new drawing but that doesn't change anything.

Can you think of an event that occurred a few weeks ago that might've caused this change?

There isn't much we can determine by looking at the DWG other than the fact that the hatch is on layer AM_8.

Also, if you run the -Purge command and select the Regapps option, you will discover a large number of purge-able RegApps. Do any of these look familiar to you? Do you know where they came from?

We can't tell how/why the hatch is created on that layer without knowing more about the actual steps you go (went) through to create the hatch. It seems that AutoCAD must be running a customized hatch "command".

Please provide contents of the command line (screenshots or copy/paste) from the procedure.

If you're clicking a menu item, toolbar button, ribbon button (etc.) we need to see the "code" underlying the interface element.

Can you re-produce the issue after starting a new, empty DWG, or does this happen only under certain circumstances?

by doing a purge nothing changes but I tested the "export" command and now, finally, my hatches are created again with the correct layer.

To assign the layer to hatch I use a lisp with reactor.

I never had that since I work with AutoCAD, I think it's from a block I inserted

In any case, it seems that you solved your own issue.

I can replicate your issue in your file with your ANSI32 hatch pattern for sure in plain AutoCAD 2023.

But in my own blank new file using ANSI32 hatch pattern no AM layer is created.

Your ANSI32 hatch patter

If I copy/paste your hatches content into my new file, no AM layer tags along and no AM layer is created if I make more hatches afterwards. But your ANSI32 hatch pattern is also scaled differently than the stock ANSI32 hatch pattern.

This tells me your method of adding hatches (or that hatch) is the culprit.

Share with us screenshots of your entire AutoCAD program window with CUI command's PARTIAL CUSTOMIZATION FILES section fully expanded, along with ABOUT and GRAPHICSCONFIG command pop-ups please.

BTW AutoCAD 2023.1.3 report an error in your posted file using RECOVER, and these needed removing

It is with all type of hatches not only ANSI32.

I have also copy/paste in a new file, it works for a while then reappears.

We are working with AutoCAD 2022 since 2 years without this problem. We changed nothing in the configuration.

I recover the drawing but it didn't bring any improvement

And why AM layer?

And why AM layer?

You all have imported "unclean" content from an AM source, nothing more. You all have some seriously difficult in-house investigations to do for a while. The good news is you stated this only started recently, so that might help.

only M .Autocad AM layers when creating/ using dimensions, hathc, etc, are you sure that you use simple Autocad??

just try to change the profile to unnamed Profile, then make the same hatch, it create the same layer AM

try what @pendean did, at the start the work on this DWG, -pu, R, *, N, Audit, etc clean your DWG

sims that some one worked on this DWG in A Mech, and now you have leftovers

I did all step that you recommended, at the end I have only the layer 0 on the drawing. (see attached DWG)

By creating a new hatch the layer AM-8 reappears.

It doesn't make sense.
