topic Re: operating systems with ACAD R 12 in AutoCAD Forum

Dear JDMather:

So thus far, it turns out that the seller, who got $ 157. and change
including $ 12. and change for shipping, when I won the bid on eBay (I was
the only bidder) for $ 145.00.; is located in Brewer, Maine, and e-mailed
me a couple of days ago claiming he thought the AutoCAD R 12 stuff weighed
only twelve pounds, but instead it weighed twenty pounds, and could I
please voluntarily send him $ 10. more via PayPal, for the added shipping
he incurred to send it, but if not, he'll understand.

And I am thinking, SOFTWARE that weighs twenty pounds?? Or even two
pounds?? Let alone twelve pounds! Aren't software CD's like, a fraction
of an ounce, each??

So when this tracking number from UPS finally shows up, I will be very
interested to see what's inside. I am glad I kept the transaction entirely
within eBay, so I can return it and get my money refunded if it turns out
not to be AutoCAD R 12 as the picture in the ad showed, a bunch of discs
and an owner's manual that software typically comes with from the
publisher. I have a Windows 32-bit OS that I'm hoping will run the 16-bit
AutoCAD.

I used AutoCAD R 12 and R 13 day-in and day-out in my job for seven months
in 1995 and again R 14 for thirteen months straight in 1999 - 2000, but got
discouraged about engineering and worked non-engineering jobs for eight
years, then returned to the profession as a highway inspector for the past
seven construction seasons. Everyone hiring these days for
engineering-related (which the state engineer boards make a very careful
distinction between technician and engineering type work) drafters
want RECENT AutoCAD training. And I refuse to go into huge debt for
upwards of $ 700. per credit-hour taking a college course somewhere that
requires sitting in classrooms, for something that'll take two years or
more to show any possible results.

It's hands-on practice with AutoCAD I am seeking; and having the software
running I will be able hopefully to play around with it at will. Not
immediate drafting productivity.

Sincerely,

- Claymont, Delaware

Jack Nelson
