lines wont show up unless highlighted or moved

I've got a 2d plot whos lines wont show up unless i select it or select all. I've checked layers, changed colors, tried forcing the entire drawing into the same layer or line type and i cant figure it out. any help would be appreciated! an explination even better!

Sounds like an issue with your video card / driver.

Click HERE to verify your video card is certified.

nope i've got a ton of other cads working. 3d 2d anything. its just this drawing that was sent to me by a client

I opened your drawing and it appears to have a JPG image linked into the drawing.

You probably don't have the JPG that was linked.

If you open the XREF Manager, the missing JPG is listed.

that makes sense. but what i dont understand is why I still have intersections and points in the image and individual lines but i cant see them

The image is a block reference with nested anonymous blocks. If you window and explode the image 3 or 4 times everything will show up. Do you know what program was used to make the drawing?
