Hi,

a Dot is too smal, but 1:500 correct is 100x50mm, that's near to a Dot 😄

Attention: I changed something in your drawing, so it is just a sample file.

Text STYLE and DIMensionSTYLE, re arranged

I used the LAYOUT feature to set up two plans

MODEL tab = MODEL, 1:1 (in Millimeter)

LAYOUT tabs = PLANS (in Millimeter)

Layouts using VIEWPORTS to display the model tab content,

you can scale the viewport view in there properties.

Custom scale factor 0.01 = 1:100, because 1:100 = 0.01

Custom scale factor 0.002 = 1:500, because 1:500 = 0.002

What you should do:

Delete ratio information "1:100" from model tab, add this information in Layout tab(s)!

This way you can display 1:100 in one Layout and 1:500 in the other one.

Thankyou Sebastian just so I get this right when I import these into custom scale im I right by saying I put them in the units where I would normally put the 100 amount I’ll give this a try Thankyou again for your quick response

In this file, the content is drawed in METER, so it is different (in both other files, model content is in Millimeter).

Paper(space) defined in Millimeter, so you have to calculate your custom scale factor for Layout viewports:

Your model is in Meter, 1 Meter is 1000 Millimeter, 1000:500=2

1000:1250=0.8

Attached my sample, I edited 1. and 2. Layout tab only.

General:

You should use your own text STYLE, your own DIMSTYLE, don't use predefined sample styles in AutoCAD.

Do not use annotation feature, if you are not familiar with. (Learn, test, use -> happy, or don't use it -> happy)

hi Sebastian im still having probelms with the scaling ive copyed your expample and check ed the scale values there all the small but it still coming out mirco small also when it come to plotting these drawing do i keep the scale value to 1:1 or do change the value to 1:100 and the same with the other's

Which one, the first or the second?

Pagesetup/plot dialog, plot scale 1:1

Viewport property

Custom scale (Perhaps the wrong word, look at your properties palette, you will find the values

1. Sample, model in millimeter

0.01 and 0.002

2. Sample, model in meter

2 and 0.8

I explained how to calculate them.

Sorry I have tried both the dulo building and try to scale it to 0.01 and the block plan 2 but they still keep going small so I no the scale isn’t correct . Hopefully it’s something simple and the last thing once I get these sorted when plotting do I change the plot scale to the scale I’ve drawn in or do I keep it to 1:1 sorry for all the questions

There are two ways, I will talk about the way which use plot scale 1:1 from Layout.

1. Start with PLOT

Select printer DWG to PDF.pc3

Select Papersize, for example Full bleed ISO A2

Center

Plotscale 1:1

[Apply to Layout][Cancel]

2. Create or stretch a Viewport

and adjust the view near to the expected view. [Command MSPACE / PSPACE - ZOOM / PAN]

3. Select Viewport

Change customscale to your calculated value.

One time again:

model units, converted to millimeter

1millimeter = 1millimeter:100=0.01

1m=1000millimeter:1250=0.8

and so on

Thats it.

If you still not able to get success, my offer:

Delete all Layouts except the one we are talking about, saveas and upload this file.

hi sebastian I attached the files; the dulo one I attached could you please check. the other two are still not going into scale after deleting a load of layout and checking the properties It still does not scale to the sizes

I don't know what is difficult for you, so I am not sure how could I help more than I did.

Dulo

There is no new layout, just my edited layout what is set up well.

You can select my viewport and you can check the custom scale property.

Model in Millimeter, 1:100 is 0.01, done, fits, all right.

Naomis

You can check my first and second viewport properties.

Model drawn im Meter,

1m = 1000mm, 1000:500=2

and

1m = 1000mm, 1000:1250=0.8

Plotscale(pagesetup&plot command)

The method I show you, you always plot layouts 1:1.

Your Frame & title (if you add these things later), placed in Layout and drawn in Millimeter.

I see that you changed the INSUNTIS setting (command INSUNITS, or UNITS)

from 6(meter) to 4(millimeter):

Insunits do NOT change the size of your model, the model is still drawn in Meter.

How do you know in what units the model content (or just a part of it) is?

Use command DIST, measure a part what you know size, for example the

Distance = 50, and you know 1 is 1meter (50 is 50m)

Now, your insunits is wrong - correct this!

variant1 - Scale your content 1000x, then it is in millimeter or

variant2 - change Insunits back to 6(meter)

Type in

Command: INSUNTIS<enter>[F1] read about it, specialy to the Text part and from list - value 0

Insunits is for AutoCAD action when you insert blocks and files into other files (command INSERT and XREF, also ADC, not copy&paste),

Autocad can scale the blockreference or xref to match them right - IF insunits is set well in target and source file.

Model drawn im Meter,

1m = 1000mm, 1000:500=2

and

1m = 1000mm, 1000:1250=0.8

I saw, you are using TrueColor- colors.

This is how your drawing opens in my Accad (black background for modelspace)

I changed the left part color 7, the right part is in your original 0,0,0

hi sorry i have only just seen your message i would class myself as new i have uses it in the passed and everything worked as it should do but this time i dont know what gone on with i followed a couple of youtube vid as a refresher but something went wrong when i got the new drawings theat you sent i locked the drawing so not to change anything esle so i dont no why they have changed in the propertys

so I need the drawing as accurate as possible but plotting to scale is really important and that’s what seem to be the problem every thing in property is how you sent unless the program has changed it all I have done is locked it and plotted but when printing it not in scale so im lost a bit

I am not sure what you trying ro say. My try to help you:

Are you talking about my comment with Insunits changed from 6 to 4?

This is a setting in a dxf/dwg file what has nothing to do with Layout and viewports,

the only way how it forced to change is: You forced this manually. For example command INSUNITS or UNITS

2. Your first picture:

A viewport what is LOCKED, so you can't change the view inside. Change it to Display locked = No

Set Custom scale to 2, set Display locked = Yes (this way you can't change the view by mistake)

3. Your second picture showing viewport properties, a viewport what is LOCKED, so you can't change the view inside.

That's very good, after you set up the view well. Model in Meter, custom scale 2, plot 1:1 will print a 1:500 plan.
