topic Divide command in AutoCAD Forum

Divide command

Hi,

I'm a beginner with 2015LT on a Mac

I can't get Divide Command to work

I type the command, select a line, enter a divide integer and nothing happens.

Is There something else I'm to input? Is the command unavailable to me?

Chip,

In the Windows version of Autocad...........You must either "Set" a "Point style" or select a block to use that will be placed at the intervals you specify.

Here is what my Point Style Selection window looks like, and how I've divided the line after setting the point style.

Hope this works for your Mac.

Because you're posting in the Windows OS forum for AutoCAD...

PDMODE is the variable name, type 3 for a setting then REGEN command: the dots should appear as X now.

Are you sure nothing is happening. In Windows version, by default DIVIDE command places a "point" at division, but the default "Point" is just a single pixel so you likely won't be able to detect it visually since it overlaps the object. If you window the line, you'll likely find all the "points" selected. As Ron said, changing the point style should make the points more visually identifable, otherwise you can us the NODE Osnap to locate them.

DDPTYPE will open the Point Style Dialog box

Your absolutely right..The points are there.

Now I'll check out the Mac forrum to find out how to change the point style
