I have managed to do it with saving as a png file in the Render Settings Box as a 32 Bit (24 plus Alfa) and rendered to file.

The issue is however, that to do this, I had to delete any background in the saved view before rendering (which was solid white)

The problem is that the default is black when background is set to 'None', so any object that is any way reflective, now reflects the black, and the images produced are darker (proportionally darker to the level of reflectivity set with the material)

Is there any way around this ?
