getting distances and bearings from lines that I drew

Hey everyone so I drew up a site plan for my college class and I drew lines at certain distances and bearings. Is there a way to go back and find out what those distances and bearings are in order to label them this time? Basically I am looking for autocad to verify the distances and bearings that I have given it. Also if someone could tell me how to add trees and bushes to a site plan in autocad if there is a way, it would be appreciated.

Don't suppose you know how to add trees/bushes etc. to green space on a site plan?

You need to buy or find a free block library with those items: Google Search for free blocks of them, or jump on the AutoCAD Exchange App Store for libraries you can purchase if they have them.

Or you could just draw your own.

I appologize but I just went to add those bearings and distances now finally and I do not have the "add labels" button under annotate that the person in the video clicked on. Can somebody tell me where I can find this/how I can do add these bearings and distances? Thanks

The video you saw was for Civil 3d, not plain autocad.

Which one you you use?

For plain autocad, bearing and dist. can be done with FIELD (Autocad feature) or autolisp (a few floating around the internet for free)

When I type field I can get a field name of"LispVariable" if that is what you mean, but I do not see a way to do bearings and distances unless im missing something still.

command FIELD brings up dialog box, follow the snapshot and click on the the line

This is for bearing, for distance do the same.

Autolisp is a different animal, it takes a little reading to use one.

Ok that seemed to work and I hate to be a bother, but how do I get these to be parallel with the line and larger so that they can be seen when printed? Sorry, I am a bit of a newbie at autocad. Everything the community helps me with I learn from though. Thank you

Let's try autolisp ( I hate FIELD, it 's too slow)

Download this TEST.LSP, save it to your desktop, minimize your autocad screen, drag and drop this TEST.LSP in the drawing area.

Then type in TEST, click on the line and you will have brg & dist.

If it works, there are many ways to use it other than drag and drop.

What I use for that can be found here, in Property.lsp, which contains four commands. The PML command [for Property: Mark Line] will do what you're asking. But it can also put the same labels on a Line as you draw it, with the PDL [Property: Draw (and label) Line] command. There are also PDA and PMA commands for A@Anonymous. The labeling of Arcs includes more pieces of information than most metes-and-bounds descriptions cover, such as the bearing and distance of the chord. And they're built to ask for information in the way it comes in boundary descriptions, e.g. they ask for the bearing before the distance, rather than using the @distance<bearing form that's needed in ordinary AutoCAD drawing. See some additional comments at that link and at the top of the file.
