However, this feature is already being investigated as a future enhancement, for all of the reasons you mention.</P> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>In the meantime, you could set up a low-quality (read: quick) Render Preset that renders a region, so that you can quickly preview the background image and make the necessary adjustments. This is obviously a workaround, and hopefully we will see the feature enhanced soon.</P> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>Regarding the additional issues you're experiencing with custom HDRI illumination, the position and size of background images, and ambient occlusion control: I'll be happy to look into these further.
