Hi,

I've tried as best as possible to search forums for my exact problem, and I did not manage to track down anything similar, apart from this article:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Performance-decreases-when-moving-cursor-over-hatch-objects.html

And to confirm, I have gone through the steps in the above article, and the settings match what the article was suggesting, but the issue persists on my machine, and the issue is slightly different to what the article describes.

I am using AutoCAD 2015 on a windows 8.1 machine, which has specs: Core i7, 16GB DDR3 RAM, with a combo of graphics card using an Intel HD4300 VGA plus a nVidia GTX 860M 2GB Graphics Card, and has a 128GB SSD (primary drive) + 1TB 7200RPM HDD (secondary drive).

The specific issue is when I have hatching done in a drawing file, I can all the hatch just fine, however, when I have an active command and I hover over any of the existing or created hatch (in any file), AutoCAD 2015 freezes for a good 2 minutes before I can continue working. As I said, I can repeat this problem in any drawing, on my machine.

I have never had any previous version of AutoCAD on this machine, however an older, and slower machine, running all previous versions of AutoCAD never had issues like this when it comes to hatching.

I actually have my old machine and was yet to do a test on whether the files I am working on, do the same thing when opened with previoud versions of AutoCAD.

In the meantime, is there anyone that can possibly pin point what the issue is here, who may have experienced this before.

Thanks.

It's a known bug and it hasn't been fixed in either service pack for 2015, nor in AutoCAD 2016.

See this thread for more details:
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015-2016/autocad-2015-hatch-delay-bug/m-p/5049716

Be sure to report it to Autodesk through your Autodesk Account and the Autodesk Feedback page. The more people that report it, the better the chances are they'll actually fix it.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the response. Only checking the forum today.

Switching off F3 during a command (e.g. Line) does not replicate the issues, and the software operates "normally", However this is not optimal as I cannot continually be switching F3 on and off when I have to work on drawings with vast amounts of hatch.

Selection preview is never turned on my AutoCAD 2015, so that is null and void to even consider.

Osoptions is always set to 2, and I set it to 1 temporarily and the issue did not manifest itself, even when I had F3 turned on, and I ran a command (e.g. Line), things worked fine. For now.

As for the old machine, I haven't had a chance to make a comparison with my older machine, which is still running AutoCAD 2014, with the above mentioned commands. I will do and revert, but clearly this is a problem within the software.

I assumed you meant you had 2015 installed on the old PC.

Hi Dean,

I bought my previous machine at the beginning of 2008, and have had every version of AutoCAD that was current through those years, installed on that machine since I purchased it, and I have never had to tweak or change any settings that are not related to how I usually set up my workspace.

So no, I did not have 2015 installed on the previous machine. The reason I even mentioned it was to try and indicate that without ever knowing about the settings you referred me to, I installed all previous versions and never experienced the issue I was querying.

That was not an attempt to compare the software as a whole, but just this one aspect, which initially manifests itself as what appears to be a glitch/flaw in the software.

And to add to that, if I was a user that prefers to have OSOPTIONS set to what appears is the default (value 2), then changing the setting to what some other user does not want/need is not necessarily a fix. It is a workaround that may not suit other users.

Or as a different way of thinking of this scenario, one can't help but ask why Autodesk would intentionally add in a a function/feature that makes the software freeze up for anything to 2-3 minutes when OSOPTIONS is set to 2.

So I see you have listed my response as a solution, however please can you take what I have just commented on, and seriously consider putting this forward to Autodesk, as I have already posted to Autodesk Feedback on the matter.

Thanks nonetheless for your responses, they are appreciated.
