Ever since I had a fatal error in AutoCAD Mechanical 2013, everything was restored all right, the Navigation Cube shows up when I open another drawing. It never showed up before the crash. It does not show up when I first open AutoCAD, just open another drawing.
I have put the following in acad2013doc.lsp: (command "NAVVCUBE" OFF) since it loads with each document. (I also put the same in acad.mnl) It still shows up. I have also put the following in acad2013doc.lsp: (setvar "NAVVCUBEDISPLAY" 0). Neither of these do the trick so I have to turn it off every time I open another drawing.

What am I missing here?

Any ideas

Did you try turning it off in Options? Go to the 3D Modeling tab, bottom left corner, and make sure "Display the View Cube" is unchecked for "2D Wireframe visual styles".
