I am currently having issues with my AutoCAD 2012 Civil 3D & AutoCAD 2015 Civil 3D when I go to start it up.

I select the program and it hangs and lockus up the machine for several minutes, it will open normal once in almost 20 times, otherwise when I click to open the software, the loading screen opens, and it sticks at different points.

Sometimes at the ncs.dwt, checking license, and at other different points, usually random points.

When it sticks the computer freezes for about 10 mins, nothing opens, not explorer, my documents.

Then AutoCAD pops open and everything else you tried to open pops up as well.

I tried a fresh install of the OS, just installing the motherboard drivers, video card drivers, .NET Framework 4.5.2, IE 11 and the Autodesk Software and I am still having the same issue.

Cleared temp files, tried unchecking the "Check for publisher's certificate revocation" option in IE, disabled InfoCenter from registry and turned off Hardware Acceleration, nothing helps.

Tried using autoruns to see if any .dll files are damaged, all seems to fine, no problems.

I then have to do a manual shut down of the computer to get it to quit when it locks up.

After the program opens to seems to work fine with lagging in between.

The OS, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 and Civil 3D 2015 are installed on the SSD HHD.

URGENT ASSISTANCE REQUIRED!!!!

Has anyone else had this issue tied directly to AutoCAD, if so how was it fixed? Any suggestions on what the issue may be?

If anyone has any help I appreciate it.

Custom Built Computer Specs:

Windows 7 SP1 Professional x64

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 - SP1

Microsoft Project Professional Plus 2013 - SP1

Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Motherboard (rev 1.0)

AMD FX 6300 (6 Core, 3.5GHz) Processor

Kingston Hyper X RAM - 2 x 8GB = 16GB RAM

Kingston 128GB SSD

1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD

EVGA GeForce GT 740 FTW 2GB GDDR5 (128 - bit Dual DVI, mHDMI)

Thermaltake 450Watts Power Supply.

N.B. Computer was also tested with Thermaltake TR2 700 Watts Power Supply and EVGA GeForce GT 740 SC 4GB DDR3 Graphics Card, and it had the same problem.

Thanks:

-Kevon

If restarting your OS fixes the problem temprarily, your culprit may be a background running application like your anti-virus or some other monitoring tool.

By chance do your problems with startup go away if, as a test, you are unplugged from the internet and your network?

BTW: Civil3D forum is here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d/ct-p/66

HI,

Restarting the OS still dosen't help the problem, even when the OS starts it sometimes hangs.

It opens normally sometimes after a restart or sometimes after I exit Civil 3D and reopen.

Checked Task Manager to see if anything is pulling resources, and everything seems normal.

Tried installing the software from 3 different media to see if the by chance one of the software media was corrupted.

No antivirus insatlled, did a fresh Windows Install, and just have Microsoft Professional Plus 2013 SP1 and Microsoft Project Professional Plus 2013 SP1 installed.

Same issue whether or not I am connected to the internet.

If you have any more advice, please let me know.

Thanks.

-Kevon

P.S.
if you are running without any AV, and connecting toi the internet, then it's highly likely that malware of one form or another is a piece of the problem.

Hi, I originally thought that the AV was casuing the issue, so I did a fresh install of the OS and necessary drivers without any AV installed and no internet connection.

Running the software in trial mode, and was having the same hanging/freezing issue at startup.

So I thought it was because of the fact that is was in trial mode, so I connected to internet just to license and tried opening, without browsing the internet.

The same freezing/hanging at startup issue was observed.

Just used to activate the product and tried running immediately after activating and the program still freezes/hangs on startup.

I tried disconnecting from the internet after activation also to see, and the same problem.

Please advise as necessary.

Thanks.

-Kevon

Hi,

>> I tried disconnecting from the internet

Only disconnected from Internet or disconnected from all networks (what happens when you deactive your network-cards completely)?

When AutoCAD is hanging start the task-manager, see if there is a process called WSCommCntrl... if there is such a process then kill it (end the task), does AutoCAD then continue to load?

At least it would be an important info to see which tasks in the taskmanager use more then 1% cpu-power druing that AutoCAD loading state.

Good Day, thank you for all the advice, help and assistance with my AutoCAD Civil 3D hanging/freezing during startup issue.

After all the fine tuning, nit picking, hair pulling, frustration and sleepless nights, I FINALLY got the problem resolved.

I remember going to a Dell conference and hearing a guy from SonicWall saying "Hardware may be the way of the future, but are sometimes the root of your problems, however, software never fails."......lol...... so true in my situation.

After going through Autoruns and Process Monitor logs with a fine tooth comb, I realized that everything seemed to be in order, so was out busting my brains trying to figure out what was the problem.

So I started swapping out the hardware with testing with other parts and testing the parts in other machines.

THEN.......TADDA!!!!!!!

Apparently the CPU Chip was bad, one pin was missing on the Processor, manufacture defect.

Changed the CPU, and now AutoCAD Civil 3D is running in overdrive.

When I select the program to open now, it's loading in about 5 - 7 seconds now.

So for those of you all who might be having the same issue, try changing processors and see if the problem could be resolved, you never know.

Thanks again for all the replies and assistance.

-Kevon

Another Happy Autodesk Customer.
